Amazon Kindle 'Special Offers' model to launch in the US
Would you be tempted by the cheaper price, in return for onscreen ads?
Amazon’s latest Kindle has found a home in so many commuters bags because it was an e-reader that finally struck that balance perfectly between quality and price. Now Amazon is looking to push that latter point even further, as a new scheme has allowed it to knock $25 (around £15) off the WiFi only model in the States.
As of the 3rd of May, punters in the US will be able to pick up the base WiFi model for $114 (£70), rather than $139. The caveat of this is what Amazon’s calling ‘Special Offers’ – a series of ads that’ll appear as screensavers and within menus, although thankfully not whole reading.
