With core gaming fans already looking ahead to the likes of the Sony PS4 and Xbox 720 Microsoft has recorded its highest ever sales week for the 360
Despite being well into its touted ten year lifecycle and with a number of Xbox 720 release date rumours doing the rounds Microsoft has recorded its highest Xbox sales week in history with just short of a million 360 consoles sold within the past seven days.
Shifting 960,000 Xbox 360s in the past week, a staggering 800,000 in a single 24 hour period, Microsoft has eclipsed its own previous seven day sales figures record with its year old motion gaming peripheral Kinect joining the high sales party.
Taking into account the Black Friday sales and with a number of great bundle deals looking to entice pre-Christmas shoppers Microsoft' Kinect add-on almost replicated the hefty Xbox sales figures with 750,000 units shifting in the last week.
"We have seen tremendous excitement from customers for our hot holiday gaming offers," said Chris Homeister, head of Home Entertainment at retailer Best Buy.
Also looking to jump on the bundle deal bandwagon last week was Nintendo's ageing and now lacklustre motion gamer the Nintendo Wii.
Not quite matching the success of its HD rival Nintendo managed to shift 500,000 Wii consoles last week with the strong sales seeing franchise records set through Zelda: Skyward Sword and the 3DS based Super Mario 3D Land.
