Developer Activision has raised expectations of its next Call of Duty title stating that it is 'laser-focussed' on the next addition to the first-person shooter franchise.
Speaking during a quarterly earnings call this week, Activision has claimed that this year's COD offering "already looks fantastic" but has failed to provide any detailed specifics on the upcoming gaming release.
Call of Duty 2012 Release
"This year we expect to further expand our presence with the launch of an all-new epic first-person shooter title under the Call of Duty brand," an official spokesperson for the record breaking publisher said. "From what we've seen to date, the game already looks fantastic and will bring meaningful innovations to the franchise."
Although an official unveiling of the new COD title is still some way on the horizon, a number of reports have suggested 2012 will see Activision release the Treyarch developed Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 with the latest franchise instalment to touch down around November.
Whatever guise the eventual release takes, Activison has said it is "laser-focused on raising the bar with this year's new Call of Duty", as well as "growing Call of Duty Elite."
