Channel 4 and Microsoft have teamed up to bring the popular 4oD application to the new Windows 8 platform, bringing with it 30 years worth of content
4oD app lands on Windows 8
Channel 4's on-demand service 4oD is now available as a free app download for Windows 8 machines.
The application launch sees the first of the major UK terrestrial broadcasters land on Microsoft's reimagined operating system and brings new programming and archived content from the last 30 years.
The Telegraph reports that Microsoft had been the driving force behind getting 4oD on Windows 8 and, for the first three months, pre-roll adverts will feature Channel 4 and Windows 8 co-branding.
The application will bring content from Channel 4, E4 and More 4 and arrives on the Windows Store before the usually-prompt BBC iPlayer.
The Beeb told The Telegraph that it had no current plans to launch an app for Windows 8.
