Apple MacBook Pro 3G leaks as prototype units hits eBay
3G Apple MacBook Pro leaks via prototype unit on eBay
Apple’s plans to launch a 3G capable MacBook Pro device have leaked online after a prototype unit was made available to buy on auction site eBay.
The device, which it is said was created in 2007 as part of plans from the Cupertino-based tech giant to launch a range of 3G able MacBooks features the same 15.4-inch 1440 x 900p LCD display as released models of the time but adds 3G connectivity capabilities via a retractable 3G antenna and SIM card slot.
Whilst Steve Jobs announced back in 2008 that Apple “considered” a range of MacBooks with 3G connectivity the company failed to launch the devices as they would have left consumers restricted to a single network.
At the time of writing the 3G capable MacBook Pro has received 94 bids with the prototype unit currently going for $30,100.99 with more than three days of bidding remaining.
Would 3G connectivity be a welcome addition to Apple’s range of MacBook Pro and MacBook Air devices? Share your thoughts on the matter via the T3 Twitter and Facebook feeds.
