The Tech Week: iPod in Iraq, text marathon and the butler is back
iPod in Iraq
Apple has joined forces with the boys on the front line by supplying them with iPhones and iPod Touches to aid their technological warfare.
Military issued, soldiers are using the Touch and the iPhone to deploy networked warfare, with programs such as Vcom3D Vcommunicator which provides soldiers with Arabic and Kurdish phrases, and Next Wave Systems allowing military personnel to send pictures back to command posts for identification currently in use.
Further apps are being developed to be used in the battlefield which include a Knight's Armament "ballistics calculator" for snipers and using the Touch as a remote control for bomb disposal robots.
