T In the Park

Rocking Revolutionaries Rage Against the Machine have chosen Scotland to make their triumphant return to the UK, making T in the Park the summer's hottest festival ticket. Add The Verve, also on the comeback trail, and REM into the mix and there you have three headliners worth hitchhiking to the highlands and back for.

The UK's biggest heavy metal festival kicks it old school this year with classic rock legends, Kiss, Judas Priest and Motorhead all taking the stage. Punk heroes The Offspring and Welsh stars Lostprophets wind up the blockbusting acts with Incubus and HIM sure to pull in the crowds.

It's the only chance most grown-ups get to spend an entire weekend playing in the mud, with an eclectic selection of live music to boot. This year, the 'IT' Festival boasts confirmed performances by the legendary Neil Diamond and Leonard Cohen as well as The Verve, Kings of Leon, Fatboy Slim and Massive Attack.

Definitely one for the emo/scenester crowd, Give It A Name has become the perfect precursor to the summer festival-a-thon. Actor Jared Leto's 30 Seconds To Mars top the bill alongside Paramore, with line-ups alternating between London and Sheffield. One to watch: Taking Back Sunday guitarist Fred Mascherino's new group, The Color Fred.

O2 Wireless Festival

Fatboy Slim, aka Norman Cook, aka Mr Zoe Ball, heads up the annual five-day Hyde Park extravaganza for 2008. With a slew of top acts yet to be announced, festival-goers can already look forward to confirmed acts like Underworld, Counting Crows, Ben Harper, The Hold Steady and The Delays.
