T3 issue 171
This year, I've been lucky enough to meet some amazing people.
Back in June, T3 decamped to Le Mans for a weekend of fine wines and motorsport and I got to chat with Sir Stirling Moss. A sprightly 79 years of age at the time, he kindly invited me over for breakfast a few months later and showed me the kit he̢'d had installed in his London pad. A great guy with some great stories to tell. Not all of them racing-related...
Early last month, Stephen Fry dropped into the office to record his Gadget Personality of the Year acceptance speech. Never have I met someone so at home with the English language. Where you or I say, "err", he has a better way of saying it. An incredibly gifted and intelligent man, but I'm sure you all knew that.
Not content with that, Suzi Perry stopped by at the T3 Gadget Awards to present the Drop Dead Gorgeous Gadget gong and a nicer, more down-to-earth person you couldn't hope to meet. As a result of that, we got chatting and the column in this very issue was born.
And, within the last month, I had the honour of meeting Jon Rubinstein, CEO of Palm and the man with perhaps the strongest claim to the title 'Inventor of the iPod'.
Guess what, he's a really nice guy. I can't tell you where I'd be without my iPod, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be writing for so many of you and gadgets would probably still be impenetrable slabs of beige plastic. Thanks Jon...
