Vivitar ViviCam 3815 digital camera

A lens-crackingly ugly underperformer

When we heard Vivitar was selling a four-megapixel camera for £80, we couldn't quite believe it. Then we got our hands on one. The nasty plastic build was to be expected, but the tiny screen is phenomenally bad, with washed-out colours, way too much blur and no detail - most camera-phones have better. In fact, we found it more useful to use the optical viewfinder. The interface, despite being limited by the small number of options available, is still not intuitive. But the lack of quality really shines through when you take a snap - the lag is awful, the flash is rubbish and the resulting images lack colour, contrast and detail. Avoid like the clap.
