Feature detection has been the watchword throughout this week's slew of new compacts, and Sony are weighing in too. Advanced Face Detection can distinguish between adults and children - adjusting skin tone for a well-rounded family shot.

Specs wise, it offers 10.1 megapixels, 5x optical zoom, a 3.5-inch LCD screen, a HD output for screening pictures on your beautiful hi-def tele.

Sony are still keeping mum about the price of this mother, which hits the shelves in March, but if the success of its predecessor the T200 is anything to go by, it could be a real contender.
