Nikon Coolpix 3200
A sound choice if you're a novice
Point this small plastic box at something you like the look of and press the button on top. It then "seizes" the light and turns it into a miniature painting that you can view on your TV or computer. Too simplistic? Then perhaps the incredibly easy 3200 isn't for you.
This entry-level 3.2-megapixel digital camera displays framing lines to prevent you decapitating portrait subjects and even recognises blurred images as you shoot, giving you the option of whether or not to keep them. Its VGA (TV-quality) movie mode is good and pictures from the 3x zoom lens are sharp, detailed and colourful, making this a sound choice for novices.
