Fujifilm finepix Z10fd

Affordable camera magnificence from Fujifilm.

Fujifilm's always proved a reliable source of imaging devices, rolling out solid camera after solid camera. Its rivals may make slimmer and sexier models than this, but the latest Finepix jobbie is a true budget wonder. Advertisement At £130, the FinePix Z10fd is at the lower-end of the price spectrum, but it still shoehorns in an honest-to-goodness smattering of photographic wizardry. Seven megapixels and a 3x optical zoom may be par for the course, but face detection and 1600 ISO are more like an albatross or eagle, or some other sort of golfing score with a daft name. Pushing the Z10fd through a gruelling regimen of urban and countryside image-grabbing garners impressive results. Shots are sharp and clear, with vivid colours, while built-in red-eye removal will, more often than not, stop your old nan looking like a crazed death banshee, gawd bless her. After lining shots up on the 2.5-inch screen and zapping them to the 54MB memory or an xD or SD card, pics can be transferred to another camera with Fuji's 'IrSimple' wireless, although the usefulness of that is, shall we say, "arguable". Better features are the slide-open lens cover, and, check this, a mode that takes four images in one frame, so you only have to pay for one uploaded pic on eBay. Nice. Although the Z10fd won't be on pro-snappers' Christmas wish lists, the £130 price tag ensures that anyone after a cheap, simple-to-use, robust camera will want to have a look.

WE LOVE

eBay shooting mode. Great value.

WE HATE

Slightly placcy feel.

WE SAY

Fine snaps are what we expect from Fujifilm, but the added extras and value for money here mean maximum wickedness
