Now that six-megapixel cameras seem almost entry level, photo printers that can spit out A3 creations are far more useful. However, practical isn't the word for a 12kg monster that squeezes neatly next to the average desktop. But with size comes quality and the R2400 boasts an eight-ink system that makes short work of the brightest colours and even does justice to black-and-white images.

An A3 printout takes about five minutes to print, but there are no handy card slots or even PictBridge support for printing directly from a camera. This is a professional printer with software, features and price to match.
