Next up in our countdown of the hottest 100 gadgets on the planet is 4G speed mobile internet
We want it here, we want it fast, and we want it now. Alas, we’ll have to wait for 4G; the UK’s chosen system is evidently called “long term evolution” (LTE) for a reason. As found in the new Motorola Atrix 4G below, 4G offers far faster mobile data transmission – theoretically up to 1Gbps, although we emphasise the word “theoretically” here.
Once we have it, cloud computing will have a real purpose, on-device storage could become a thing of the past and mobile e-commerce will boom to hitherto unimaginable heights. Trials are ongoing, with roll-outs being planned from next year – all good things to those who wait…
