Toshiba MT200 projector
Behold, a DLP protector that isn't cursed by rainbow effects.
Toshiba's last budget projector, the ET1, had a quirky circular design which made it very pleasing on the eye. Unfortunately, this quirkiness hasn't been carried over to the MT200. However, the designers have decked it out with a sleek mother-of-pearl finish on the front.
The MT200 uses DLP projection, but you can put aside any fears of that technology's accursed rainbow effect. This machine uses a very speedy colour wheel, which ensures that this colour oddity is almost non-existent.
In fact, watching movies on this unit is an absolute pleasure, because it produces fantastically smooth images. Colours appear vivid, but never stray into unnatural territory, and even shadowy detail is slickly reproduced.
Our only real complaints are that the fan is a touch noisy and the lens has a short zoom range, so you'll struggle to get it to project really large pictures in smaller rooms.
