InFocus X3 projector

As versatile as a Dutch master of total football.

Whoever said that a jack of all trades was a master of none obviously wasn't taking into account Ruud Gullit or the InFocus X3. While the former could do pretty much anything with a football, the latter is a projector that's perfectly capable of being all things to all people.

If your thing is home cinema, then this multimedia projector employs film-lovin' DLP technology, complete with a high contrast ratio that produces the sort of rich, deep black levels that make grown LCD projectors blub like babies. There's also a very handy selection of video-based features to sink your Hollywood teeth into. But most importantly - even with its minor picture noise, lack of native widescreen and sporadically iffy colour tones - the X3 is just as fun to watch blockbusters on as many more expensive, dedicated movie machines.

If your thing is computer gaming, then this unit offers brightness levels almost high enough to scorch retinas during a session of Warcraft, and a sharpness that'll have you so busy drooling over the detail in Half-Life 2 that you'll forget to actually play the game. What's more, with the optional Liteshow Wi-Fi system you don't even need to physically connect your PC to the projector to use it.

Of course, the X3 has the most to offer those people whose bag happens to be both watching films and using their PC with a projector. Being able to so satisfyingly indulge both loves for as paltry a sum as £800 truly makes the world a happier place.
