InFocus IN82
If you're looking for a truly next-gen Hi-Def experience, and you have a decent wodge and plenty of wall-space to spare, look no further than the IN82.
This pro HD suckles full-HD, 1080p images direct from the latest video-teats - Sky HD, Blu-Ray or HD-DVD - and they look outstanding.
Full HD only comes into its own on a really big screen, and with a maximum image-girth of 4m, this demonstrates what all the fuss is about. Invite pals round for a viewing and the detail levels will leave their minds boggling, while the natural, vibrant colour reproduction will rapidly foster in them a burning and - to you - highly gratifying feeling of jealous rage and general inadequacy.
Other peer-impressing features include good connection options and low fan noise. There's no lens shift though, so your thoughts about set-up will have to extend beyond "I'll shove it on the coffee table".
At £3,000 this costs about the same as a second hand Fiat Punto, and does considerably fewer miles to the gallon. It also isn't quite as user-friendly as some of the models we're seen recently, but for the true cinema buff, this is a superb choice. It's not even like three grand is that expensive these days.
