Epson EMP-TW1000
Eye-fondling projector.
Cute, curvaceous and finished in a rather delicious black, this full-HD beamer is not only sexy, it's what AV boffins laughingly call "cheap" at £2.6K. That's because three-LCD technology has been shovelled in instead of DLP, but not at the expense of features, with a 2.1x zoom lens that can throw a 100-inch picture from around 10 feet away - great for people who live in tiny houses.
This is capable of images that will make your eyes spring from their sockets like a cartoon wolf who's just spied Bugs Bunny in drag. From the right sources, in particular Blu-Ray, you get bags of detail, with natural and well-balanced colour reproduction.
Contrast isn't as good as the Optoma HD73, which costs a grand less and has black levels like a coalmine in a power-cut, but the HD73 can't match the Epson's 1080p images, nor its suitability for smaller rooms. For super-high resolution images at a desperately "affordable" price, there can only be one.
