Morphy Richards Internet Radio

Morphy go WiFi

The WiFi revolution is upon us and setting aside impending legal doom in the US, internet radio stations can now be tapped into from the deepest corners of the universe.

Morphy Richards are the latest lads to have a crack at this web based wireless malarkey, and for a first attempt this is not half bad.

Idiot proof with automatic network detection, you simply type in your WiFi key and in seconds, Bobs your uncle, you have access to over 4000 stations. Choosing a station is basic as they are listed in genre and country - meaning you can skip between radio stations from different continents in a matter of moments.

Feature wise Morphy's new creation has an SD card slot to record radio, a line in for your MP3 player, as well as the ability to access your music tracks from your PC.

Impressive? To a certain extent, but you are left baffled by the aesthetics. First impressions are not good. Why does it look like it belongs in a high rise council block in the 80's? It's grey, boring and uninspiring. On closer inspection things get worse. Big, bulky, and made with tacky plastic - it wouldn't look out of place in Toys R Us.

Plus the sound quality is tinny and disappointing compared to the Pure and Roberts boys.

Like the blonde that you thought was a banker but then breaks it you she is married - the Morphy teases and tempts but in the end just doesn't deliver. Not a bad effort having cracked the basics, but frustratingly this could have been a winner, it's though they ran out of money.
