Elonex: Elonex Exentia Gold

The folks at Elonex must have a sign on their wall that reads "Small is beautiful": the eXentia delivers all the functionality of Media Centre in one compact device - and it only requires a single power outlet.

That diminutive size doesn't mean you get below-par specs and performance; this machine's 3.0GHz processor, 512MB of RAM and 200GB hard disk make it the equal of Evesham's ebox, and the integrated speakers and sub provide decent-quality sonics. 802.11g wireless networking comes as standard, as does a card-reader and all the kit and caboodle you'd associate with Media Centre 2005.

The screen is a little small and smeary and you'll find yourself squinting at it if you're sitting more than a few feet away. The cordless keyboard and mouse supplied aren't up to the high standards of those of the other models here, and Elonex has stuck with an analogue TV tuner rather than embracing the digital age.

WE SAY

This weeny PC is fairly pointless if you've got a huge plasma screen and a top-class sound system already in place, but it's ideal for bedrooms, studies and student digs.
