The gloves are off in the Netflix vs Lovefilm rumble, but which of the two online streaming services has the power to go the distance?
Netflix vs Lovefilm
Netflix may have been around in the US since 1999, but it's only just made its way over the Atlantic, causing a few ripples on the way, especially where main rival Lovefilm is concerned. Lovefilm didn't launch its first online streaming service until 2009, but has made up for it since and ported the service across to an ever-increasing number of platforms with Lovefilm Instant unlimited streaming making its debut in December 2011.
But who emerges as the victor in the Netflix vs Lovefilm battle?
Netflix
Netflix may be the new kid on the block, but it's certainly made its mark. Offering unlimited streaming at just £5.99 a month, the service is available across a huge range of devices including Mac and PC, games consoles such as the Xbox 360, smart TVs, iPad and even Android devices and Apple TV.

It also offers HD streaming, albeit only on selected titles, and the ability to share what you're watching with your Facebook friends. But does the fledgling service have enough titles on offer to make it worth your while? Find out in our full Netflix review.
Lovefilm Instant
Putting up a decent fight against its new rival from the States, Lovefilm Instant currently offers unlimited streaming for a quid less than Netflix, with a bargain price tag of £4.99 (alternatively you can opt for the £7.99 hybrid option that offers unlimited streaming along with unlimited disc rental, although you're only allowed one disc at a time).

It might not offer the HD capability that Netflix has, or the Android compatiblility, but Lovefilm has been on these shores for a lot longer and has a more extensive range of titles to choose from. But is it enough to make you choose it over Netflix? Check out our full Lovefilm Instant review for the lowdown.
