The Razr is reborn as Motorola officially unveiled its new Razr Android smartphone eclipsing the iPhone 4S as the world's slimmest smartphone. Aside from its slender bragging rights, we find out what we can expect from the impressive looking Razr.
Motorola Razr features, specs, release date and more
It was the clamshell wonder that cemented Moto's place as one of the leading mobile phone players in 2004, and now the Razr is set to return with the launch of the Motorola Razr Android smartphone. A US announcement was made yesterday, and now we have official details that the new Razr will be coming to the UK. Why should you be excited? Here's our run down of the tantalizing features that may convince you to say hello Moto once again...
Motorola Razr: Design
At just 7.1mm thin it’s officially the thinnest phone in the world, and protecting that slender frame is a diamond-cut aluminum chassis, a KEVLAR panel on the back and of course the Gorilla Glass on the front. All of this is then backed-up by a splash-resistant coating making it truly an all-weather phone.
Motorola Razr: Screen
Moto claims the 4.3-inch Super-AMOLED display will deliver a wider range of colours found on LCD HDTVs which is some billing. The Razr screen is also wrapped in Corning Gorilla Glass making it as tough as it will be stunning to look at.
Motorola Razr: Camera
The camera is an impressive 8-Megapixels and allows full 1080p video-recording putting it right in line to face up against the new Apple iPhone 4S. There is of course a front-facing camera for which makes it video-calling friendly as well.
Motorola Razr: Processor
Under the hood of this slimline superphone is a 1.2Ghz dual-core processor with 1GB RAM making it both incredibly fast while promising to handle multi-tasking with ease.
Motorola Razr: MotoCast
Like iCloud but for Motorola, MotoCast will allow users to stream media content from their personal or work computers from home onto their Razr to enjoy on the move.
Motorola Razr: Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread
Despite the announcement of Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 on the very same day, the new Razr will launch with Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. Motorola have since confirmed that Android 4.0 will be on its way to the Razr in early 2012.
Motorola Razr: Accessories
To make sure that you think there really isn’t anything this phone can do, Motorola has also announced a slew of products that can be used in conjunction with the new RAZR including the new LapDock 500 Pro which lets you use Firefox right off the Motorola Razr, echoing the success the company has had with the Motorola Atrix.
Motorola Razr UK price
Motorola has yet to officially confirm details of UK pricing, however online phone retailer Clove currently lists the Motorola Razr with a £379 price tag which compared to a 16GB iPhone 4S (£499) is significantly cheaper to buy as a SIM-free handset.
Motorola Razr UK release date
An early November 2011 launch is the official line from Motorola at the moment but again, Clove lists the Motorola Razr UK release date as November 1st 2011.
