Halo: Combat Evolved: Features to look forward to
Halo 4 may have grabbed the headlines at E3 2011, but the news that Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is here which means there's plenty for fans of Master Chief's battle against the forces of the alien Covenant to look forward to.
T3 managed to grab some time with 343 Industries Executive producer Dan Ayoub at E3 2011 who explained why they decided to bring the first Halo back to life, "It's ten years since the game launched so we wanted to do something about that and more importantly, we are responding to our fans. This is something that Halo fans have been asking for for a while."
As well as getting a first glimpse at gameplay footage, you can read below to find out what Halo fans can expect when Combat Evolved hits the shelves.
1/ Updated graphics
Bungie's first Halo instalment launched way back in 2001 and now in the hands of 343 Industries, the remastered version will sport graphics to give it a modern day game feel as if it would be like if launched today.
2/ Sound improvements
A full audio sweep has been carried out which includes weapon effects and the orchestral soundtrack which will be delivered by Skywalker Sound. Additionally, Halo: Combat Evolved will use the same voice actors to stay true to the original.
3/ Game engines
Running on the original game engine means the game will feel exactly as it did ten years ago. A new graphics engine has also been overlayed to give gamers the best of both worlds.
4/ Classic mode
Perhaps one of the most impressive features of Combat Evolved is the ability to see exactly how the game looked ten years ago at any part of the campaign by the simple touch of a controller button. You can go back and forth as much as you really like helping you to see ten years of gaming revolution.
5/ Terminals
Helping you unlock extra storyline elements, the easter egg-style terminals scattered inside the game will now be told in a more graphical way. Crucially your hard work locating them will also result in finding out more about the storyline for Halo 4.
6/ Achievements
Now where would we be without those achievements? The 343 Industries team has announced that you can now play Halo 1 with achievements to brag about to your Xbox 360 compatriots.
7/ Two player action
If you don't fancy campaign mode or multiplayer action, you can also indulge in some co-op live split screen gaming gving you three ways to enjoy the Halo: Combat Evolved action.
8/ Classic guns
On the weaponry front, you'll be able to run riot with a magnum in your hand as the crazy overpowered pistol makes a return to the Halo action.
9/ Multiplayer
The all important multiplayer mode is in check with fan favourite maps given the Reach engine treatment. Now you'll be able to play Damnation with a whole host of different things such as armour abilities and a jetpack. There will be seven fan favourite maps from Halo 1 to 3, one of those of which will be to be a fire fight map.
10/ Release date and price
So when can you play Halo: Combat Evolved? Well it's slated for a November 15th release, the exact day that Halo 1 was release 10 years ago with a $39.99 price tag. More details about the game will be revealed at Halo Fest which kicks off on August 26th, where we will also hear a whole lot more about Halo 4.
