Best Mobile TV on the Planet

The generous HD Super AMOLED display on the GALAXY Note II makes it the perfect device to watch your favourite TV shows on the move, with a wealth of applications, websites and streaming services to satisfy even the most avid of television addicts.
With Wi-Fi, DLNA and 4G connectivity you can easily get online with your GALAXY Note II to catch the latest live showing, catch up on previous episodes, or find out the latest news on upcoming episodes – with dedicated apps from some broadcasters and official and unofficial fan apps making this a whole lot easier.
Here’s our low-down on how to get involved with the best TV shows currently around.
Breaking Bad
Now in its fifth and final season the incredibly popular Breaking Bad follows a college science teacher who turns to a life of crime to ensure his families financial future before he dies of lung cancer.
The last season has been split in two and is set to conclude in the middle of 2013, but there’s plenty to keep you going before it’s all over.
Hop onto Google Play on your GALAXY Note II and you’ll find a number of free apps relating to the series, including wallpapers, soundboards, themes and fan apps.
Two of the best fan applications are Breaking Bad and Breaking Bad Official Fans, both of which sport a similar look and feel.
They give you quick and easy access to news, fan sites, YouTube clips, photos from the series and social network accounts dedicated to the show.
There are a whole host of other apps linked to Breaking Bad, so we recommend spending some time downloading a few on your GALAXY Note II – most are free – and see which ones you prefer.
Homeland
Just over a year old Homeland a third season has already been given the green flag, in a series which sees the CIA investigate the potential threat of Marine Sergeant Nicholas Brody’s return to the US after going missing for eight years in Iraq.
If you’re lucky enough to be in the US head over to Google Play and download the Showtime app, where you’ll be able to watch previous episodes as well as find out news about the show, as well as engage with the Homeland community.
There are a few Homeland fan applications which you can also download on your GALAXY Note II, although the selection isn’t as extensive as for Breaking Bad or Dexter.
App developer AppMobia is at work again here with its Homeland Fans app, linking you to fan sites, blogs, forums and video clips of show.
Dexter
The smash hit crime-fighter/serial-killer Dexter is a Miami-based police forensics expert who spends his spare time killing criminals he believes have escaped the clutches of the law.
Now in its seventh season the show has a huge following and this is reflected in the Google Play store where a wealth of apps connected to the show can be snapped up, getting you closer to the action.
In addition to streaming the show on your GALAXY Note II via catch up websites, you can keep in the loop with all the latest news and gossip surrounding the series with the free Dexter Fans app, which gives you quick links to various sites, blogs, forums and streaming services.
If you fancy walking in Dexter’s footsteps you can purchase the official game: Dexter the Game 2, which sees you enter an open-world Miami, tasked with solving cases – think L.A. Noire on a mobile screen, with less impressive graphics and a slightly flaky plot.
Reckon you know all there is to know about Dexter? Well put yourself to the test with the free Dexter Trivia app, or if you just can’t get enough of his voice there’s also the Dexter Character Soundboard - dreamy.
Merlin
Coming out of the UK and not the US, Merlin is a fantasy-adventure TV series following the plight of the legendary sorcerer as a young wizard.
It managed to make the difficult leap from the UK to America, meaning it can be easily accessed on both sides of the Atlantic.
The show was made by the BBC, so if you’re in the UK you’ll want to download the BBC iPlayer app, which will let you stream episodes from the latest season.
Over in the States Merlin is currently being shown on cable channel Syfy, after an initial stint on NBC – so US-only applications may be available if you want to watch on your Note II.
If you fancy complementing your Merlin watching experience you can download the unofficial Merlin fan app from Google Play, giving you access to YouTube clips, news, photos and social media chatter surrounding the magical show.
Game of Thrones
There’s nothing like scenes of a sexual nature and in-your-face violence to boost a show’s popularity and Game of Thrones brings both to the table in the brutish series which debuted last year.
Pretty much taking the world by storm Game of Thrones has been broadcast around the world, taking its inspiration from a books series, the first of which shares the same name as the show.
As you may expect there are several applications which you can get on your Samsung GALAXY Note II to immerse yourself further into the series.
The free Game of Thrones Quiz and Game of Thrones Trivia apps will test to see if you’ve been paying attention to all the plot twists and turns.
If you really want to show your love for the series, why not download the various Game of Thrones themes, wallpapers and widgets to adorn your Note II?
Finally, there are also various fan apps, providing you with up to the minute news, photos, trailers and more, so you’re always in the know about the upcoming episodes and new seasons.
