It’s surely the greatest gadget ruse of them all, luring us to a sun-drenched city and letting us be the first to marvel at some glittery new tech, only to be told that's the closest you are going to get to it for some time.

I guess the first comment was regarding the Sony Webbie. Haven't seen it myself in stores. The Toshiba Qosmio it is retailed in Currys and PCWorld stores as far as I know. The Samsung H104 is again available at afformentioned stores although it is the 32GB version, otherwise identical specs.
Otherwise there are some interesting stuff out there, especially the Japanese market. I was there in Summer 2000 and I saw and used phones technically very much the same as ones available currently on the UK using 3G. How is it that they are able to fit tv tuners into such small phones? Is it all software based?

Not quite true that you cannot buy this in the uk its available in a few CURRYS stores i sell it at my store in Nottingham and is about £299, we have an exclusive offer with sony to sell it, they are wanting to see how well it sells in the uk. Also the screen does not rotate the camera does at the top, Dont mean to nitpick just thought you should know :)
