MSI launches U115 hybrid storage netbook

SSD + HDD = faster, more efficient netbook

We're getting used to trotting out the typical netbook specification like a mantra, so it's good to see a bit of innovation in the range, courtesy of the MSI U115.

Described as the first 'hybrid' netbook, it mixes old school HDD with new school SSD for its storage. What does that mean in practice? Well, with the SSD looking after the operating system and the HDD confined to dealing with file storage, that should add up to a faster netbook. And with an 'eco mode' button to temporarily disconnect your hard drive, we might be talking about a seriously longer battery life too.

In terms of specification, there's also a 1.60GHz Intel Atom processor, 10-inch screen, up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM and a 2MP webcam, with that mix of storage offered in combinations of 8GB SSD / 80GB HDD, 16GB SSD / 120GB HDD, and 32GB SSD / 160GB HDD.

It all sounds too good to be true, but we suspect the bubble just might burst when the price is disclosed. Let's be honest, this is a netbook, you can juggle the storage all you like, but you really can't bump the price too much if you want to sell in any great numbers. Expect to see the bottom line when it hits these shores, probably in the first quarter of 2009.

**AS FEATURED IN T3 MAGAZINE**

How do I get a FREE iPhone 3G?

Easy. I got my free iPhone from the FreebieJeebies network and so can you!

But why are FreebieJeebies giving away free iPhones, you ask?

Put simply, this is a new form of marketing. Nowadays, companies are looking for new and innovative ways to attract potential customers to their websites.

By completing your offer, and getting others to do the same, you are earning a commission for FreebieJeebies from the advertiser, which adds up and eventually pays for your free gift. The money left over is taken as profit for FreebieJeebies. Everyone is a winner!

Proven by the BBC, CNN and T3 Magazine!
