GTA IV Week: The best bits

We've been blitzing it all weekend, in our journalistic duty to you, of course. Here's what we've discovered so far.

Online cops and robbers

Nailing that perfect jump is satisfying enough, but screaming up a hidden ramp online, with a police car manned by four players in hot pursuit, was simply legendary - especially when the player cops buggered up and landed in a crash.

Cinematic mode

Hold the circle button while driving, and the camera takes a life of its own, cycling through loads of cinematic angles. Depress the left analogue stick, and it goes slow-mo, making those rag doll physics all the better when you run people over.

Three leaf clover

Easily the best mission in the game. We don't want to spoil too much, but think Heat, but more intense, and screaming in front of the telly through the sheer tension of outrunning 20 police cars and choppers. Awesome.

Drinking

Just like real life, Pool and Bowling are a fun night out, but we'd much rather be getting pished. Getting bladdered in GTA IV is almost as hilarious - and definitely as disorientating - as the real thing. Just without the hangover.

Boat chase

Rocket-fast, bullet-flinging speedboat chases through the Liberty City waterways are simply epic. Remember the old Bond movie stunts, where a speed boat rockets between two tankers closing in on each other? You'll be doing that for real, and it'll probably earn you a wanted star or three.
