Apple tablet delayed again due to OLED screen

Last minute addition pushes tablet back again?

Have more delays hit Apple's tablet? Original reports had slated the tablet as having a pre-Christmas launch, which then got put off to early next year, but now it's looking like a late 2010 launch date is more realistic for the Cupertino company.

Supposedly two versions will be offered, with the high-end model fitted with an OLED screen, which is the main reason for the delay. In addition to Foxconn, Quanta Computer and Pegatron Technology, it's also believed LG will have a hand in building the Apple tablet, with the latter making the 9.7-inch OLED panel.

The lower-end model will measure 10.6-inches but will have a TFT LCD screen.

Of course, this is all still rumour and speculation, with Apple famously not revealing its products until key personalities such as Steve Jobs or Phil Schiller take to the stage. But that hasn't stopped one publishing house from investing money in an area Apple still hasn't confirmed it's working in - Condé Nast.

The Apple tablet will apparently be a next-gen e-book reader, with web browsing and apps built in alongside the ability to read books, magazines and newspapers on the go. Condé Nast, which publishes Wired and Vogue amongst other titles, has apparently started working on an Apple tablet version of its tech magazine Wired, and will follow it up with 18 more digital magazines.

This comes after comments from the executive editor of the New York Times, Bill Keller, who told employees in an internal meeting that they must start preparing for the "Apple Slate," as he called it. It's fair to expect that if Apple is preparing a new device which will need key newspapers and magazines such as the New York Times to develop digital formats well suited for a tablet, they would've already been briefed on what to expect.

With Apple pulling out of Macworld, which has been put back a month to February, the Apple tablet could be introduced at their WWDC event in early June.

This time Apple is as always the best. I believe it is very nice of them to be able to keep it a secret. I admire this company even more after reading the book about its Phylosophy which I found at the pdf search engine http://pdf.rapid4me.com . I like that they think about future and are always ahead of others.

The more rumours I here about this "iTablet", the less excited I become. The rumours could at least be exciting.
