Soon everything is going to have an iPod dock built in. TVs, toasters, horses, children: all will be able to mechanically and electronically accommodate Apple's populist widget. Take this Hi-Def (1024x768) projector, which comes with a "special hatch", so your thin white juke can mount up and ride. The result is those teeny-tiny 'Pod videos are pumped up to pseudo-cinemascopic glory, theoretically hitting 300 inches across. We got an 80-inch image with ease, even in the confines of T3's squalid bedsit. Results are better than adequate, with what AV gurus call "quite deep blacks"; you can also plug in your laptop or DVD player via S-video and composite. However, with most iPod videos being index point-lacking downloads from Dave's Dodgy Online Store, compressed like a hamster in a sandwich toaster, its USP begins to look less compelling. Of course, you can have high-quality vids on your iPod too, but that takes up storage space that could be devoted to concept albums by Rush, and photos of cats.
