iRiver T20 1GB MP3 player
An overpriced underachiever that pales next to nano.
Forget about using cables to hook your MP3 player up to your computer, because this one has a built-in USB connector that enables you to plug it directly into your PC.
The connector is fitted on a sliding mechanism, so when you've finished downloading files over USB 2.0, it slides back into the main body of the unit, which is around half the size of a pack of chewing gum
There's support for MP3, WMA and OGG music files, and we found that the player worked a treat with the Napster To Go subscription service. It also has on-board encoding. The sonics are impressive too - an MP3 version of Bob Marley's remastered Exodus album had beefy bottom end, a detailed mid-range and energetic highs. Battery life is pretty good at around 15 hours.
However, the unit has a tiny mono screen, and some buttons are tricky to use and have dual functions that aren't particularly obvious.
So, while this might be a neat little player for those with a Napster To Go subscription, most people would be better served by a 2GB iPod nano.
