Meet the monitor with a few clever tricks up its skinny sleeve

While we love LCD monitors, we'd be the first to admit that they have a tendency to be rather boring and samey when it comes to features.

Not so for this attractive 17-incher - it possesses an innovative expansion port, enabling you to add different boxes that open up new functions.

The basic package includes the monitor (1,280 x 1,024 pixels and a D-sub input) plus a combination four-port USB 2.0 hub and SRS Wow speaker system. You can replace the latter with an analogue TV tuner box (£80 extra) or a memory card- reader (£50). A DVD player expansion option is set to follow.

All very clever stuff, and happily the monitor works pretty well too.
