Shuttle Mini X100

Hefty mini PC

Although a chunkier than your average media PC, the Shuttle's still dinky, plus it's got the power to play games like Doom 3 at a fair old lick.

Touting Windows XP Home, it'll output HD to your telly at 1080i and 720p, but there's no TV tuner and no remote control. There's no Bluetooth either, come to think of it, but there is Wi-Fi.

It's one of the quietest machines going, and also the best for gaming. If only it had TV/PVR capabilities and was nicer to look at, it'd be the ultimate set-top PC.

WE SAY

Perfect for a frag fest, but more a spare-room PC than a front-room one
