Palm Treo 680
Slick and squat clever phone
Palm gives the finger to Windows Mobile OS. Instead it uses Palm's own software, which is just as slick when it's time to synchronise contacts and content.
It's a squat little thing, and thankfully the external antenna found on previous Treos has been sliced from this one. Less thankfully, the keys on the QWERTY keyboard are squidgy, which makes typing feel like trying to run through an enormous marshmallow. Also stinking up the place is the fact that while Palm's web browser is excellent, the lack of 3G and Wi-Fi means you won't use it much.
The hi-res screen is great for videos. Audiophiles will not be moistening their trousers at the music performance, but anyone who's just purchased some slick new cans will appreciate the 3.5mm headphone socket.
Basically, you'll find that this is a few features short of a full house.
