Samsung launches Luxia TVs at CES 2009
Thin is in at CES 2009
Samsung lived up to its name as a TV giant at CES 2009 with its new Luxia range, incluiding a triple crown of TV series'. The 6000, 7000 and 8000 OLED backlight series rolled out offer "full ranges of natural colours and crystal clear detail". Sammy also trumpeted the eco cause claiming its latest collections were "eco friendly and what users need".
Starting out with the basic 6000 series, this lot measure in at 1-inch thick but manage to pack in a TV tuner, four HDMI ports and also access to Samsung's InfoLink RSS service. All this for 40% less power than conventional LED's.
Stepping up to the 7000s, these build upon the success of Samsung's RSS text base service. These connected tellies offer "fully interactive web based HDTV" that, according to the boffs ar Samsung HQ "changes the passive relationship we've often had with out platforms." Funny that, we were thinking the same watching telly last night.
Bringing in the rear is the 8000 flagship series that builds on the capabilities of the 7000 series. Looking slightly smarter (remaining in the classic black Samsung outfit of course) than the others, the 8000 series delivers 240Hz refresh rate and banishes judder from our televisual experience. Delightful.
All three ranges are due to be released in the coming months, no word on price but no doubt we'll be paying a packet for the 8000 series. Start saving, it'll be worth it to have a telly that's 4x faster than your average LCD.
