Parrot teams up with Philippe Stark for new Wireless Speakers at CES 2009

A classy new home for your iPhone

Parrot is normally associated with slightly boring Bluetooth car accessories so we were pleasantly surprised to find the company touting some downright gorgeous kit at this year’s CES Unveiled preview. Taking over the stand was a massive pair of wireless speakers, capped with an iPhone.

Created by legendary designer Philippe Stark, they offer 360 degree sound, which is pretty essential because you probably wouldn’t want them tucked away round the back of the sofa but may prefer to stand them right in the middle of the lounge like a big shiny black conversation piece instead.

Although they have been called wireless, they do each need to be plugged into a separate power source. Instead of having speaker cable trailing between them, they are connected via Bluetooth. They also offer wireless networking which allows you to tap into your PC music library, or you can hook up an ordinary phone handset over Bluetooth.

There’s no indication of prices or availability, but we’re guessing they’re not going to come cheap.
