Griffin Evolve
Griffin parades its latest wireless iPod dock onto the market. But does it blow our docks off?
Darn right it does. Wirelessly delightful and stonkingly good looking, Griffin has come out fighting with more spirit than a tanked up tramp on the Tube.
Packed on to the dock are two speakers that can transmit sonic gold to distances of 150 feet. Listen to Barry White in the bedroom or in the bathroom, you decide. The blasters lack some juice: 30 minutes max was the most we could get out of them before dashing back to the dock to reboot.
Sound is variable. With both speakers parked on the dock it's booming, but stick them in separate rooms and its more block tickling beats than block rocking. Another niggle is the lack of separate controls on the boom boxes. Turn up "I'm too sexy" in the bedroom and the 'rents can hear it in the living room.
You can plug in anything from your iPod Mini to 5th gen 'pods, and thanks to an audio input at the back, slap in any old mp3 player or link it up to your telly.
Griffin's Evolve is one good looking piece of kit. Speakers lack some sound but that's nothing to quibble about. If you're looking for a dock with some wireless style, punt for the Evolve, but if you want to add some boom to your beats we'd look elsewhere.
